With more than 20 years of R&D, design, and marketing experience in the engineered wood products industry, Steve's involvement includes positions with the USDA Forest Products Laboratory, Trus Joist Corporation, Alpine Engineered Products, and Champion International. A Registered Professional Engineer in Wisconsin and Florida, he has authored or co-authored more than 25 papers on wood engineering, design, and management. Steve holds BS and MS degrees in Agricultural Engineering (wood engineering emphasis) and an MS in Business Operations Management, all from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.

Scott joined TECO in 2002 after receiving an MBA in Operations Management from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He also holds a BS degree in Wood Science from Michigan Technological University where he served as President of the student chapter of the Forest Products Society. Scott has previous experience in laboratory testing as Laboratory Supervisor of PSI/PTL and in manufacturing of engineered wood products during an internship with Trus Joist Corporation.

Steve joined TECO in June 2004 as Quality Manager and is responsible for managing and maintaining TECO's quality systems as well as the certification program and testing laboratory accreditations. With an expanding role as part of TECO's Management Team, Steve's title was changed to Technical Manager in 2007 to better reflect everything he does within the company. Dr. Verhey graduated with an impressive background in engineered wood products from Michigan Technological University (Michigan Tech) in Houghton, Michigan. He has a BS degree in chemistry from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point and a MS degree in Chemistry and a PhD in Forest Science from Michigan Tech. Following graduation, Steve joined the faculty at Michigan Tech teaching classes and conducting research on wood fiber/thermoplastic composites.
